Masters European and Japanese Auto Repair is locally owned and operated by Jim Terstegge, with his sons Andrew, Keith and Patrick managing operations.
Jim got his start in the auto business after graduating from UC Berkeley in 1970. He started and ran Small Wonder Car company in San Francisco before moving to Marin County in 1972. Why Mill Valley? In the seventies, Mill Valley was a independent-minded community filled with European car loyalists and early adopters of the first imports from Japan. Today, the car culture in Mill Valley is just as diverse and exciting.
History of our awesome building
The building dates back to 1928 and since then has only served as a vehicle repair garage. Prior to the Golden Gate bridge being built, local traffic would back up on Camino Alto in front of this building as cars jockeyed for a spot on the local ferry boat into San Francisco.
